My AI Internship at BRACAI: Consulting in Barcelona

Alongside my studies, this AI consulting internship in Barcelona has given me a chance to take what I have learned during my Master’s in Digital Marketing and Analytics and apply it to real projects, while learning a lot of things that you simply cannot learn from a textbook!

Here's a little about me:

Isabel Borgen

  • Age: 27 years

  • Nationality: Norwegian/Mexican

  • Education: Toulouse Business School, Barcelona (2025-2026), Universidad de Cádiz (Fall 2021), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2019-2022)

  • Interests/hobbies: Exploring Barcelona and Catalonia, hiking, meeting friends at the beach, and playing guitar

Looking back on my time at BRACAI so far, four highlights stand out:

1. Keeping the human in AI

The way I use AI has changed completely during my AI consulting internship in Barcelona. One of my biggest lessons has been the importance of keeping a “human in the loop”: staying involved in automated processes, checking outputs, and making decisions.

I’ve also learned how to preserve my own voice when working with AI. Choosing the right tasks for it and applying my own judgment have become central to how I work.

2. Helping others put AI to work

I’ve helped develop and deliver client workshops, from structuring content and preparing exercises to presenting and supporting participants during activities.

Explaining AI to people with different levels of technical knowledge has taught me a lot about making complex topics understandable. I’ve also enjoyed finding creative ways to build presentation slides that get people interested and encourage them to participate.

3. Staying curious with ChatGPT and Codex

ChatGPT has become my favorite AI platform, and testing new features has been a fun part of the internship. There’s always more to learn, including prompting techniques that I now use regularly.

Two favorites have been building websites in Codex and creating skills: reusable instructions that guide AI through specific tasks. One I created, “Grill me,” challenges my ideas and assumptions. It has been especially useful while writing my master’s thesis.

4. Connecting automation to business needs

I started exploring automation in my first week. Learning by doing meant getting involved early, experimenting, and building automations that actually worked.

I’ve also joined client meetings to understand their challenges and help map processes around their needs. These conversations have helped me understand how businesses can decide where AI is useful and how automation should support the people using it.

What my AI consulting internship in Barcelona has taught me

The variety is one of my favorite parts of BRACAI. Beyond these highlights, I’ve worked on content and social media projects, written blog articles (like this one 🙂), and helped rebuild the website, while getting a close look at how the company develops.

There’s room to take initiative and suggest ideas. As an intern, seeing my ideas and work become part of real client projects has been especially rewarding.

Working in Barcelona has added to the experience. I’ve practiced English, Spanish, and even a little Catalan, and met people from around the world.

My time at BRACAI has made AI a much bigger part of how I work, think, and approach new challenges!
