Most internships start slow. This one didn’t. Within a few weeks at BRACAI, I was already helping build workshops, researching AI tools, and working on real business use cases.

I was also the only intern during my time at BRACAI, which meant I got a more hands-on experience from day one.

About me

I’m an American student studying accounting at Providence College, currently studying abroad in Barcelona. Before this internship, I had used AI casually, but never really understood how it worked in a professional setting.

Here's a little about me:

Evan Bliaya

  • Nationality: American

  • Education: Providence College (2023-2027), CEA CAPA Education Abroad (2026)

  • Interests/hobbies: Exploring Barcelona, learning about different cultures, getting lost in the woods in New England

Why I joined BRACAI

I joined BRACAI as a part of my study abroad program through CEA CAPA. I had used AI in my daily life, but I felt like I was missing how it actually works in a business context.

When I was given the opportunity to intern for a boutique AI consulting company I knew that this was the piece that I was missing in my journey with AI.

Working at BRACAI is a fast-paced and varied experience. You are always doing something different every day and you get experience with every aspect of the company.

My BRACAI journey

Finn doing an AI workshop for SMEs in Barcelona

I came into this internship with a background in accounting and a foundational understanding of AI. Within a few weeks, I was helping build workshops, researching AI tools, and seeing how AI is actually used in business.

At the same time, I was also adapting to life in Barcelona. In an unexpected way, working at BRACAI helped me adjust. The day-to-day rhythm of the office gave me a feel for what it is like to work in Spain, and lunch breaks gave me the chance to practice my Spanish and experience real local food.

While my time at BRACAI was short, I was exposed to parts of AI that I had never thought about before. I learned about various AI tools and prompting techniques that help make using AI easier and I assisted with workshops for clients. I was even able to sit in on a workshop and see my work being presented to clients.

My favorite thing about AI

I love the flexibility of AI, it can be applied anywhere in life or business. AI makes life easier, and that’s what I strive for.

I want to make life as fun as possible and you can’t do that without making sure that your work is done, and AI does just that.

At first, it would take me all day to do 2-3 of my daily tasks which meant that I would have to spend more time later working on other tasks but after I started using AI to help me out with my tasks I was able to get through 4-6 tasks in a day.

My AI internship highlight

The highlight of my internship was realizing how fast the AI space moves. While researching blog content, I came across tools and benchmarks like ARC-AGI (try it for yourself) and SWE-Bench, which showed me how quickly AI capabilities are evolving.

Being able to learn about how AI is shaping the world and how the world is shaping AI is one of the most interesting parts of the internship.

Final reflections: Intern at a boutique AI consulting company

Working at BRACAI is an eye-opening experience. You not only dive headfirst into the world of AI, but also become immersed in life in Barcelona, interacting with locals during workshops and learning about the local culture over lunch breaks.

You are constantly learning about AI. Whether during coffee breaks or bike rides, there is always something new to discuss. Even if your interests lie outside AI or tech, BRACAI helps you build skills that can be applied anywhere.

I went into this internship unsure whether I would learn anything I could really apply to my own life, and I left with practical AI skills and a newfound love for coffee.
